Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market
The Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market is 30 minutes northeast from Carmel at 490 Danbury Road in New Milford, Connecticut. This flea market happens every Sunday from April through December and was first started in 1976, making it a New England tradition you won’t want to miss. Every week can bring different vendors, usually over 500 of them, so you’ll have a wide range of items to look through. You can expect to find everything from vintage clothing and antiques to up-cycled items, merchandise, and unusual treasures. There are also plenty of food vendors to keep you well fed.
There are three categories of tickets to attend this market as a buyer. A Prepaid Early Buyer’s access costs $20 and lets you arrive at 5:30 a.m. to pick the vendors’ goods first. Next are the Prepaid Buyers tickets at $10 that let you come at 7 a.m. while the goods are still there and relatively un-picked through. Finally, the $3 General Admission ticket you can buy at the door from 8 a.m to 2 p.m., which is great for the shopper who doesn’t want to get up early for the first pick.
The Hunt Vintage and Handpicked Goods
The Hunt is a little further away, over 40 minutes from Carmel. Still, it’s worth the drive if you’re looking for quality handpicked goods, including vintage and secondhand clothing and accessories and both new and antique housewares such as small furniture, kitchen items, sewing notions, vinyl, and more. This cute boutique is located at 20 Bank Street in New Milford, Connecticut, and is open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday. If you make an appointment to drop off some things, you can even donate your gently used clothing and accessories or exciting household items.

DamnAged Vintage is located at 109 Main Street in Cold Spring on the shores of the Hudson River. Offering up vintage clothing and accessories from the ’40s to the trendy ’90s. Fleur De Lis is an antique store located at 4 Long Ridge Road, West Redding Center, in Redding, Connecticut, about 40 minutes southeast of Carmel.
