Dining out is an excellent way to spend time with your friends and family, and it also allows you to experience cuisines from different cultures. If you’re interested in trying Japanese food, consider trying sushi. Much like other Japanese cuisines, this dish typically involves vegetables and seafood wrapped in rice, and there are many roll options to help you find one you enjoy. To help you find places to go for this tasty dish, our team at Meadowland of Carmel has created this list of the top five places to grab sushi in and around Carmel.

Toro

Toro Japanese & Chinese Cuisine serves Asian fusion, Chinese, and Japanese food. It receives fresh fish daily and makes all of its sauces in-house. It also aims to use the freshest ingredients, herbs, and spices to achieve a stronger flavor in its dishes. The sushi chef has over a decade of experience, and the head chef has over 25 years of experience working in restaurants across Asia and North America, so you’ll be sure to receive only the highest quality of food.

The sushi menu at Toro includes dozens of roll options, including vegetarian choices. Some of the house special rolls are the Naruto Roll, spicy crunchy crab rolled with thinly sliced cucumber, and the Ichiban Roll, a rice-less roll with avocado crab, fish egg, salmon, and tuna rolled in thinly sliced cucumber. Celebrate your favorite baseball team with the Yankee Roll, a spicy tuna roll with salmon and eel, or the Mets Roll, a shrimp tempura roll with salmon. In addition to its maki rolls, Toro also offers hand rolls.

Toro’s menu has plenty of other options for patrons who may prefer dishes other than sushi. Japanese options include teriyaki entrees, sashimi, tempura entrees, and salads. Other Asian cuisine options include fried rice, fried noodles, chow mein, lo mein, soups, and entrees made with vegetables, chicken, pork, beef, tofu, or shrimp. It also offers appetizers like egg rolls, fried wontons, and crab rangoon.
