The monastery is well named with all of its statuary, traditional Chinese architecture in the style of the Tang Dynasty, and beautiful landscaping. The monastery is open to the public, but visitors need to follow the posted rules and not wander into restricted areas where the monks live. Always be respectful, as the monastery is a quiet reflection for both the monks and the visitors. It's open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily between April and January. Fahnestock State Park Fahnestock State Park, named for Clarence Fahnestock, is a 14,086-acre park located on Route 301 in Carmel, New York, and is part of the Hudson Highlands. It features multiple outdoor activities year-round, ranging from fishing in the summer to cross-country skiing in the winter. There are hiking trails, campgrounds with a view, places for picnicking, and boat launches on the Stillwater and Canopus Lakes. Elephant's Trunk Flea Market The Elephant's Trunk Flea Market is 30 minutes northeast from Carmel at 490 Danbury Road in New Milford, Connecticut. Every week can bring different vendors, usually over 500 of them, so you'll have a wide range of items to look through. There are three categories of tickets to attend this market as a buyer. A Prepaid Early Buyer's access costs $20 and lets you arrive at 5:30 a.m. to pick the vendors' goods first. Next are the Prepaid Buyers tickets at $10 that let you come at 7 a.m. while the goods are still there and relatively un-picked through. Finally, the $3 General Admission ticket you can buy at the door from 8 a.m to 2 p.m., which is great for the shopper who doesn't want to get up early for the first pick. This cute boutique is located at 20 Bank Street in New Milford, Connecticut, and is open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday. DamnAged Vintage DamnAged Vintage is located at 109 Main Street in Cold Spring on the shores of the Hudson River. Offering up vintage clothing and accessories from the '40s to the trendy '90s.
