The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee is an electric version of the classic Charger. It’s a muscular, sleek coupe with many design elements based on its namesake, the Charger Daytona. In 1970, it was the first vehicle to exceed 200 mph on a NASCAR track. The new Daytona Banshee also has outstanding power.

Dodge’s parent company, Stellantis, introduced the Banshee at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This vehicle also appeared at the Stellantis Design Cars + Coffee event. Dodge CEO Timothy Kuniskis declared that the “brotherhood of muscle” will be battery-powered in the future. What’s Different About the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee?

The Daytona SRT Banshee has a long, sculpted functional performance hood, and its low, wide profile gives it a confident look. A thin strip of LED headlights surrounds the black rectangular grille, and an illuminated white triangular Fratzog badge is in the center. Dodge muscle cars from 1962 to 1976 had this badge, and Dodge brought it back to signify the brand’s electrified future and unwavering commitment to performance. There’s also a smaller lower grille, and matching LED taillights.

Simple vertical details on the lower grille add texture and look like the iconic 1968 Dodge Charger. The sculpted sides emphasize the hood and roof, and the wheel fenders have subtle muscular shapes that accentuate the rest of the body. The 2024 Charger Daytona SRT Banshee will be available in Greys of Thunder, an exterior color with deep textures and a high-gloss graphite feel. You can also choose Stryker Red, one of the iconic Dodge Viper’s colors.

Dodge’s patent-pending R-Wing is part of the hood. This unique feature maintains the Dodge Charger’s recognizable, blunt profile while making the 2024 Charger Banshee EV more aerodynamic. The R-Wing lets air flow through the front opening and enhances downforce, combining optimal performance with an unmistakable Dodge look. The carbon-fiber intakes on both sides of the front and rear lower fascias produce an air curtain for even better aerodynamic performance. Several wheel styles are available, and “turbine” 22-inch wheels with a lug design in the center are standard.

What Are the Advantages of the 2024 Dodge EV Charger?

The 2024 Charger Banshee EV has a futuristic, modern powertrain and impressive, exciting performance. It looks and drives like a gas-powered muscle car, not a typical EV, and has many appealing features.

An eRupt Multispeed Transmission

The eRupt multispeed transmission system provides an exciting electro-mechanical shifting experience like the Hellcat. Most EVs have one- or two-speed automatic transmissions. The eRupt lets you shift gears manually whenever you feel like it, increasing your engagement while driving.

An STLA Large Platform

This vehicle uses Stellantis’s STLA Large platform. The STLA Large is the base for several new vehicles from Stellantis brands, including Alfa Romeo and Maserati EVs. The platform provides up to 500 miles of electric range and uses Stellantis-designed modular battery packs and electric drive modules (EDMs). The EDMs integrate an electric motor, power electronics, and transmission into one unit to make EVs lighter and more efficient.

The STLA Large platform is a key component of the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 plan. The company wants to make EVs half of their sales in the United States by the decade’s end. It also wants to become number one in customer satisfaction by 2030. Designers and engineers may adjust the STLA Large platform’s length, width, and powertrain for different Stellantis models.

Plenty of Power

The 2024 Charger EV has a unibody chassis and a flat, high-performance battery with a 100 to 110 kWh capacity. The entry-level Charger 340 produces 455 horsepower and has a 400-volt propulsion system. The midrange 440 is like an electric version of the Scat Pack, giving 590 horsepower.

The Dodge Direct Connection engine tuning kit can provide even more horsepower for either trim level. The top Banshee model will have an 800-volt engine and may come with two motors. Dodge hasn’t revealed the horsepower yet, but the company promises that the Banshee will have better performance metrics than the gas-powered Hellcat. It will likely reach 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. You can activate the PowerShot push-to-pass feature with a button on the steering wheel. It provides a quick burst of acceleration for even more power when needed.

Updates for the Dodge Charger

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee received its name partly for its loud wail. Even though it has a quiet electric engine, it uses a Fratzonic chambered exhaust system with complex pipes and electronics to produce a distinctive 126-decibel noise. It’s the first exhaust system for an EV.

After some complained that it didn’t sound enough like a gas-powered muscle car, Dodge updated the engine noise. It now resembles the SRT Hellcat’s iconic roar. After a sensor detects an increase in the propulsion rates of the electric motors, the exhaust system changes the volume and tone of the sound it produces. The Banshee also has a new all-wheel-drive system. The previous Hellcat-powered Chargers used rear-wheel drive as their only powertrain option.

How Much is a Used Daytona Charger SRT Banshee?

Dodge hasn’t revealed the MSRP of the Banshee yet, but it will probably be high. The MSRP of the 2023 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak is $84,650, and the 2024 Banshee could cost even more. For lower Charger EV trim levels, expect to pay around $50,000. The cost goes down for a used Daytona Charger but varies depending on condition.

This non-hybrid variant is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L Hurricane4 Turbo engine that generates an exhilarating 268 horsepower and a whopping 295 pound-feet of torque. With this robust engine under the hood, acceleration becomes a surge of adrenaline, and the open road transforms into a playground for power enthusiasts.

The GT can reach 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds while maintaining 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway (26 combined mpg). Activate Sport Mode from the steering wheel button to reveal this stinger’s incredible handling. With its track-tuned suspension and precision steering, the Dodge Hornet GT trim is tailor-made for those who relish the pure joy of driving. The GT Plus trim amplifies the GT’s sophistication with a variety of upgraded features, such as full leather seating, heated front seats, an impressive sound system, and a power sunroof.

Dodge Hornet R/T Plug-In Hybrid: Electrifying Performance Meets Efficiency

The plug-in-hybrid R/T model joins the lineup for 2024, boasting a 288-horsepower powertrain and a 12.0 kWh battery pack that delivers 30-plus miles of all-electric driving. With state-of-the-art hybrid technology, this powertrain blends a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with the eco-conscious benefits of electricity. Precise engineering allows the electric motor and internal combustion engine to work together seamlessly, resulting in a refined and smooth driving experience and impressive fuel efficiency. Drawing inspiration from its more expensive counterpart, the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Hornet exhibits similar design cues emphasizing elegance and dynamism. Striking LED headlights, a bold grille, and sculpted lines all contribute to a sophistication reminiscent of the Tonale’s distinctive style.

You may recognize the same techno leather steering wheel you’d find in the Alfa Romeo. This one has the Dodge logo embedded in the center. Black upholstery lined with red stitching comes standard in the base trims, while the GT Plus trim comes with leather. Overall, the Hornet’s design captures attention with its athletic stance and aerodynamic profile, aligning seamlessly with the captivating aesthetics of the Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Generous Standard Features

There’s plenty of new tech to uncover in the 2024 Dodge Hornet with a host of desirable standard features, such as a large 10.3-inch touch-screen infotainment display that’s compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Watch yourself go from zero to 60 mph on the impressive 12.3-inch driver information digital cluster display.

An illuminated map pocket, privacy glass, and a six-way manually adjustable driver seat make all journeys a joy. While the standard features certainly go above and beyond what you’d expect from a base SUV, there are plenty of additional available features to look forward to in the GT Plus and R/T Plus trims. 2023 Grand Cherokee Reliability

How Long Does the Grand Cherokee Last?

You can expect your Grand Cherokee to last about 15 years or more if you’re an average driver. The Jeep Grand Cherokees achieved over 150,000 miles on the road. Many owners with high mileage Grand Cherokees report that they can drive their SUVs for years without carrying out major repairs, underscoring that this Jeep is a reliable and durable vehicle.

Some reports have pointed out that overall, the percentage of Grand Cherokees that reach 200,000 miles is slightly lower than the average vehicle. For example, Vehicle History notes that 0.9% of Grand Cherokees reach 200,000 miles compared to 1.2% of other vehicles.

This small difference doesn’t indicate that Grand Cherokees are less reliable than other cars. It has more to do with how drivers use them. Most take them off the beaten track to tackle rough terrain or tow heavy loads. These tasks tend to cause more wear and tear on a vehicle than driving on a city road or the highway.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Service Tips

The most effective way to get your Grand Cherokee to 200,000 miles or beyond is to stick to a regular maintenance regime. Routine maintenance is even more important if you use your Jeep for off-roading or towing since it gives our professional team of auto technicians a chance to resolve any problems before they get serious. Regular multipoint inspections help us monitor your Grand Cherokee’s overall condition.

Your attention to maintenance should start right after you purchase a new or used Grand Cherokee. After between 5,000 and 7,500 miles of driving, you should get the engine oil changed and the tires rotated. This amount of driving equates to about six months. Oil changes are vital because they help keep the engine’s parts well-lubricated, avoiding unnecessary wear and tear. Tire rotations help avoid uneven wear, which can result in your Grand Cherokee’s tires requiring replacement much sooner.

Important maintenance tasks you’ll need to consider include brake pad changes and fluid flushes for the brakes and steering. Wearing parts or external debris can contaminate the brake and steering fluids. Brake pads typically wear out after two or three years of driving, although this can vary depending on your driving habits. As your Jeep gets older, you’ll need to monitor the condition of the transmission belt and tires. The engine and transmission may also require servicing.

One of the most effective ways to keep on top of maintenance is to purchase an extended warranty. These service contracts give you added protection for your Jeep once the three-year factory warranty and five-year powertrain warranty expire. The extra protection an extended warranty offers can boost your Grand Cherokee’s longevity, giving you time to get more miles on the odometer before buying a new car.

Grand Cherokee Performance and Interior Features

The latest editions of the Grand Cherokee feature a V-6 engine in their base setup that can put out 293 horsepower. This unit offers solid acceleration and towing abilities, but you may prefer to step up to the optional V-8 for added performance. This engine puts out 357 horsepower and comes with four-wheel drive, which will help you cover long distances during your next off-roading adventure. A plug-in hybrid version consisting of a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors is also available to improve fuel economy for your daily commute around Carmel.

Inside the cabin, the Grand Cherokee has plenty of room for you and your family to travel long distances in the coming years. There are approximately 37 cubic feet of storage behind the second row of seats, so you’ll have enough space for luggage during your next road trip or vacation. The spacious two rows of seats provide enough room for up to five passengers. And with the extensive array of infotainment features, everyone will stay entertained during those long drives.

Most Reliable Model Years for the Grand Cherokee

If you don’t intend to purchase a new Jeep Grand Cherokee, you can still obtain a pre-owned vehicle capable of covering long distances in the future. Jeep has been building the Grand Cherokee for over 30 years, giving this vehicle no shortage of time to prove its reliability and durability in practice.

Based on the number of complaints the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported, there are several Grand Cherokee model years you should look out for when shopping for a used Jeep. The 2013 model year proved very reliable, as did the model years from 2016 onward. This pattern is quite typical for Jeep’s cycle of Grand Cherokee production. A new model came out in 2011, meaning that by 2013, the automaker had the chance to iron out a few minor issues that emerged after the vehicle’s release.

Have you received a notice that your vehicle has been recalled? Or are you just curious to know how recalls work? Vehicle recalls are an important safety mechanism to ensure that automakers take steps to resolve serious defects that pose a risk to driver safety. After repair work, recalled vehicles can safely return to the road. At Meadowland of Carmel in Carmel, New York, we handle vehicle recall repairs and often get asked questions about the process. We’ve compiled a guide to some of our customers’ most common queries about recalls.

What Exactly Is a Vehicle Recall?

A vehicle recall is a decision by a manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to bring a car in for urgent safety repairs at a dealership. Recalls are typically issued voluntarily by the manufacturer because it can be fined heavily if it fails to do so. The manufacturer may issue a recall after reviewing warranty claims or receiving information from NHTSA about consumer complaints.

Recalls will be issued using the vehicle identification number (VIN), which is usually on the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side. The manufacturer must write to all affected vehicle owners within 60 days of issuing the recall. Mail may not reach all owners, especially if you bought the car used or changed your address recently. That’s why it’s worth checking NHTSA’s website for relevant recalls by entering your VIN twice a year.

There’s no reason to be worried about your vehicle after a recall repair is carried out. Recalls are an important part of traffic safety regulations to help ensure that all cars on the road meet high standards. In rare cases, the issues raised by a recall may be so serious that the recalled vehicles must be scrapped. However, if this occurs, the manufacturer will repurchase the car from you so you won’t lose out financially.

How Do Vehicle Recalls Start?

There are two main ways that recall is initiated. The first is when a manufacturer responds to repeated safety issues with a component or equipment. For example, Toyota recalled several hundred vehicles after some dealerships complained about cars with cracked engine blocks that were leaking fluid. The company traced the problem to a failed water flow meter at one of its plants, which resulted in the engine blocks not cooling properly. Toyota issued a recall for the affected vehicles.

The other possibility is that NHTSA calls for a recall after conducting an investigation. Investigations are usually launched after the agency receives a large number of complaints about a specific problem. However, automakers have a strong incentive to take action themselves before NHTSA gets involved. The agency can fine a manufacturer up to $111 million if it repeatedly fails to respond to safety defects it was aware of.

Are Repairs During a Recall Free?

Yes, repairs on recalled vehicles that are 15 years old or less are typically covered by the manufacturer during a recall. The 15-year time limit starts when the vehicle is sold to its first buyer. Older vehicles may voluntarily be included in a recall by the manufacturer, but it isn’t required to do so by law. If you take your car to a dealership and it tries to charge you for a repair, you should contact your manufacturer and explain the issue.

Can I Drive My Car After a Recall?

That depends on the type of recall. In some of the most serious cases, manufacturers will issue a “do not drive” notice, which means you shouldn’t drive the vehicle until repairs are done. This may occur, for example, if defects in the braking system are detected. In other cases, you can drive your vehicle carefully and in essential situations. These could include driving it to the dealership for a recall repair.

Other recommendations or orders may also accompany recalls. For instance, automakers have previously issued warnings to park vehicles outdoors after a potential fire risk was detected in their manufacturing. This information should be provided in the letter from your vehicle’s manufacturer or mentioned on NHTSA’s website.

Can Vehicles Be Sold With a Recall?

It’s illegal to sell new vehicles subject to a vehicle recall. However, the same rules don’t apply to used cars. As a result, you’ll need to check the status of a used car before you purchase it. The best course of action is to make a note of the VIN and do a search for it on NHTSA’s website. If the vehicle isn’t subject to a recall, you should see a message explaining that there are no unrepaired recalls.

How Long Will Recall Repairs Take?

The length of time can vary considerably. Because a computer operates many parts of modern vehicles, some recall repairs can be conducted by owners simply by performing a software update. Others may take considerably longer, especially if many vehicles are involved. High demand for repairs by dealerships could result in parts shortages or delays in securing appointments. A delay may also be caused if a manufacturer issues a recall before a fix for the problem has been found.

Vehicle manufacturers aren’t obliged to provide a loan vehicle while recall repairs are carried out. However, it could be worth asking your dealership if a loan vehicle is available. It may be willing to provide one at its own expense if your repair takes longer.
